Pharmacy Technician

Performs non-discretionary, technical duties under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Duties involve compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by qualified prescribers, adhering to applicable laws. Cleans laminar flow hood and countertops per policy. Compounds and admixtures intravenous solutions as specified by the supervising pharmacist. Counts and pours pharmaceuticals in the preparation of prescriptions. Documents quality assurance activities including refrigerator temperatures and other quality assurance metrics. Maintains compliance with all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by regulatory agencies. Places drug products into containers for stock, including stationary and mobile drug carts. Prepares and affixes labels accurately and safely. Receives ordered items and places them into stock. Removes outdated or ineffective drugs from inventory. Ships outdated medications back to appropriate vendors. Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned. The department is responsible for controlling, mixing, compounding, and distributing drugs, as well as providing pharmaceutical consultation to various areas. Prescription-based retail entities are excluded.
