The Role: Senior Staff Production Engineer We're seeking an exceptional Senior Staff Production Engineer to define the technical vision and architecture of Lightspark's core infrastructure. This is a pivotal role for someone who excels in fast-paced environments, remains deeply hands-on, and has a proven track record of solving complex, large-scale engineering challenges. You'll shape our infrastructure strategy, lead high-impact initiatives, and ensure the performance, security, and reliability of systems that power mission-critical financial transactions worldwide. What You'll Do Set the technical direction for Lightspark's production infrastructure and influence engineering strategy across multiple teams Architect and scale secure, highly available distributed systems supporting global, 24/7 financial transactions Design next-generation infrastructure platforms and frameworks (observability, deployment, security, compute, networking) that other engineers build upon Lead cross-functional, company-wide initiatives to enhance reliability, performance, and operational excellence Anticipate future scale, regulatory, and security requirements—driving long-term solutions before they become bottlenecks Mentor fellow engineers, elevate technical judgment, and contribute to our culture of craftsmanship and accountability Own and improve high-severity production operations, incident response, and postmortem processes What We're Looking For 10+ years of experience in Production Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or related infrastructure-focused roles Demonstrated ability to architect and operate large-scale distributed systems with strong security, reliability, and regulatory considerations Strong software engineering skills with the ability to produce high-quality, maintainable, well-tested code Proven leadership of complex technical initiatives spanning multiple teams or domains Deep expertise with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.) Proficiency with high-level programming languages such as Python (Go, Rust, or similar languages are a plus) Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and strategic decisions across engineering and leadership Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience—we value non-traditional backgrounds equally We offer a comprehensive compensation package that reflects your experience and impact: Equity: Stock options Bonus: Annual performance bonuses Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Retirement: 401k with company matching Time Off: 20 paid vacation days plus holidays and generous family leave policies Flexibility: Flexible work schedules and remote work options Additional Benefits: Company-paid life insurance, FSA/DCA accounts Final compensation is determined by an individual's qualifications, skillset, and experience.
