Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students’ diverse needs as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. You'll have the unique opportunity to make a direct impact in local schools, working alongside a dedicated team committed to student growth and inclusion. This assignment is onsite and offers two distinct roles: one Inclusion classroom at the elementary level and two Self-Contained classrooms at the intermediate level.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active and valid Special Education (SPED) teaching certification (verify through the Alabama Department of Education).
  • K-6 certification required for the Inclusion classroom.
  • 6-12 or K-6 certification accepted for the Self-Contained positions.
  • Previous experience in an inclusive or self-contained classroom environment is highly valued.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster student success.
  • Create compassionate, supportive environments that empower students both academically and socially.
  • Use data-driven strategies to assess student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain organized records and submit required documentation promptly.
