Working Lands Climate Corps - Montana Association of Conservation Districts Term of positions is 47 weeks; full-time 40 hrs/wk Location: 1101 11th Avenue, Helena Montana $600/week living allowance, plus $100/week in additional benefits ($700 weekly income, pre tax) Position is eligible for an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the program. Desired start - October 2024 Preference given to applicants that submit application by August 30, 2024 Position Title: Working Lands Climate Corps Member Position Details Stewards Individual Placements (Stewards) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. Stewards in partnership with the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) will host a Working Lands Climate Corps (WLCC) Member. The WLCC will train the next generation of conservation leaders for Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry. The WLCC is a part of the American Climate Corps (ACC), and service members will receive technical skills training, education awards, and career pathway opportunities. WLCC members will receive on-the-ground experience with partners and organizations who conduct programming to support the adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry practices and systems. This WLCC Member will serve in MACD's Helena Office. The member will serve on several different planned projects for MACD focused on supporting MACD conservation programs and providing resources and support to conservation districts. Depending on member interests, we also hope to have the member develop or lead a project of their choosing. Position Responsibilities Provide support and coordination for the Montana Conservation Menu (relaunching in October 2024). The Montana Conservation Menu is an online hub of conservation funding and program resources, targeted to local conservation organizations. Support the Ranching for Rivers Program through a few short field monitoring trips across Montana during spring and summer 2025 and assisting with outreach Help support event coordination and create materials for the Montana Soil Health Symposium (SHS), including working with a steering committee of MACD and NRCS staff. The Soil Health Symposium is a premier event for agricultural producers, land managers, and other stakeholders across Montana and the broader region. SHS regularly sells out tickets at 400+ attendees. Assist the MACD Director and staff with outreach to and support for Montana CDs. This could include assisting with the MACD newsletter, quarterly publication, or social media. We will work with the member to build a workplan that includes flexibility for members to focus on projects and tasks that they are interested in. MACD will ensure there is flexibility for members to pursue an additional project or work area of their interest. Minimum Requirements Must be able to work a full-time schedule for the duration of the term. Be at least 17 years old at the start of service. Have a high school diploma or equivalent or agree to obtain a high school diploma prior to using the earned education award. Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States; and Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in conservation, including working with manager or agricultural producers and/or field work. Experience with wordpress or other website platform Experience with graphic design, including programs such as Canva, InDesign, etc. Associates or Bachelor's degree in conservation, agriculture, writing, communications, media, design etc. Strong writing and editing skills. Public speaking or facilitation experience. . We are open to different backgrounds and skills, and we will offer on-the-job as well as professional training.
