You’ll drill down into *how* we do what we do, and *why* we do what we do, so we can build a better way.* Translating: Understanding the law (*e.g.*, data privacy, IP, antitrust, TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA/Reg V, UDAAP), understanding the business and the auto industry, knowing the technology itself (AI, APIs, OSS, machine learning) and exhibiting an innate desire to learn along with it. You’ll appreciate dynamic business intent, regulatory requirements, and legal guardrails and best practices, fluidly transition between legalese and business speak, and do so comfortably with analysts and senior executives alike.* Business Ownership: Working hand-in-hand with the business to solve problems in flight. We place a high value on intellectual curiosity, particularly when combined with a “we’ll figure out a way” attitude.Basic Qualifications:* Juris Doctor from an accredited law school* Active member in good standing of at least one state bar* At least 7 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agencyPreferred Qualifications:* 5+ years of experience advising financial services or technology companies* 5+ years of experience working as an attorney on matters related to auto finance, product development, technology, and AI* Experience advising companies on matters of regulatory compliance, including UDAAP, the FCRA, GLBA, ECOA, and TILA* Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently, make effective and integrated decisions, and collaborate effectively at all levels in the company* Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, complex concepts, and details* Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence others* Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAt this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.This role is hybrid, meaning associates spend 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.Plano, TX: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Asst General CounselCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
