Roadway Design Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Cleveland, OH office. Remote candidates located in North Carolina are also welcome. Salary Range: $90,000‑125,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards. Roadway Design Engineer – Responsibilities Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design. Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages. Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans. Coordinate design activities and meetings among design staff, subcontractors, and client managers. Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance. Identify schedule and cost variance and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action. Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation‑related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, DBIA, etc. Other duties as assigned. Roadway Design Engineer – Credentials Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. 4+ years of progressive engineering experience with a broad knowledge of transportation and roadway design. Experience on DOT design projects required; experience with NCDOT or ODOT is a plus. Preferred Qualifications PE preferred. Successful candidates will have their PE or the ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire. Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) design software is preferred. Core Skills Project scheduling, team coordination, and mentorship. Technical writing, proposal support, and cross‑functional collaboration. Why Join LJB?
