Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) is currently accepting applications for the full-time, hourly position of Airport Electrician at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel classified in this job title.SUMMARYUnder the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for performing skilled electrician work in the maintenance and repair of the airport terminal building, airfield, and other airport buildings. Responsible for the maintenance, installation, and repairs of all electrical systems throughout Airport facilities. Trains main­te­nance staff on elec­tri­cal safe­ty and arc flash pro­ce­dures, prop­er elec­tri­cal trou­bleshoot­ing tech­niques, and elec­tri­cal tool usage.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPer ­form jour­ney­man-lev­el elec­tri­cal work on all Air­port elec­tri­cal sys­tems and relat­ed com­po­nents.Overseas and per­forms main­te­nance and repair on all air­field light­ing vault and elec­tri­cal sys­tems and equip­ment at all Air­port owned facil­i­ties.Per­forms main­te­nance and repair work on high volt­age air­field light­ing cir­cuits. Work includes nor­mal main­te­nance such as bulb change out, clean­ing, trans­former replace­ment and lens replace­ment, as well as emer­gency fault locat­ing and repair to include pulling and repair­ing air­field pow­er and con­trol cables.Per­forms main­te­nance and repairs on con­stant cur­rent reg­u­la­tors and their asso­ci­at­ed mon­i­tor­ing sys­tems.Respon­si­ble for test­ing and main­tain­ing unin­ter­rupt­ible pow­er sup­ply, emer­gency back­up gen­er­a­tors, dis­tri­b­u­tion switchgear, light­ing and con­trols, motor con­trol cen­ters, pow­er mon­i­tor­ing equip­ment, and infrared test­ing on all pow­er dis­tri­b­u­tion equip­ment.Uti­lizes Air­port pur­chas­ing pro­ce­dures to acquire mate­ri­als and sup­plies as need­ed.Makes bud­get rec­om­men­da­tions for upgrades and design improve­ments.Works with staff on air­field light­ing and trains them on safe­ty and main­te­nance of the light­ing sys­tems.Trou­bleshoots and repairs the main elec­tri­cal sys­tem, main­tain tests and gen­er­al up-keep of the gen­er­a­tor sys­tem for air­field light­ing and record keep­ing.Works with staff on updates and upgrades need­ed for air­field light­ing.Under­stands and works with a 3‑phase input pow­er with reg­u­la­tors.Con­ducts elec­tri­cal sys­tems inspec­tions and keeps inspec­tion records for all NFPA reg­u­lat­ed codes.Document inspections, repairs, lockout steps, tests, and equipment status for facilities and airfield operations.Per­forms oth­er duties as assigned. Noth­ing in this job descrip­tion restricts man­age­men­t's right to assign or reas­sign duties and respon­si­bil­i­ties to this posi­tion at any time.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSGrad­u­a­tion from an accred­it­ed high school or pos­ses­sion of an accept­able equiv­a­len­cy diplo­ma.5 years' expe­ri­ence in commercial/​industrial elec­tri­cal work.Edu­ca­tion from an accred­it­ed col­lege, uni­ver­si­ty, or tech­ni­cal school in an elec­tri­cal field can be sub­sti­tut­ed on a one year for one-year basis for required expe­ri­ence.Pos­ses­sion of a valid Elec­tri­cian License pre­ferred.Must pos­sess a valid Flori­da driver's license.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREDWork inde­pen­dent­ly, but under gen­er­al supervision.Knowledge of schematics, meters, and safe electrical practices to isolate faults in lighting, controls, panels, or feeders.Knowledge of electrical systems that energize runway, taxiway, and airfield lighting assets.Understanding control circuits, such as, relays, contactors, PLC-style controls, switches, sensors, and protective devices used in airport systems.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTRequires 24-hour/7-day on-call status.Sus­cep­ti­ble to mechan­i­cal, chem­i­cal, elec­tri­cal, as well as oth­er safe­ty haz­ards asso­ci­at­ed with the repair, main­te­nance and oper­a­tion of an airport.Able to lift 70 pounds, push, pull, climb and walk for most of the day. Equal Opportunity EmploymentThe Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) is an equal opportunity employer.
