Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) is currently accepting applications for the full-time, hourly position of Airport Electrician at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel classified in this job title.SUMMARYUnder the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for performing skilled electrician work in the maintenance and repair of the airport terminal building, airfield, and other airport buildings. Responsible for the maintenance, installation, and repairs of all electrical systems throughout Airport facilities. Trains maintenance staff on electrical safety and arc flash procedures, proper electrical troubleshooting techniques, and electrical tool usage.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPer form journeyman-level electrical work on all Airport electrical systems and related components.Overseas and performs maintenance and repair on all airfield lighting vault and electrical systems and equipment at all Airport owned facilities.Performs maintenance and repair work on high voltage airfield lighting circuits. Work includes normal maintenance such as bulb change out, cleaning, transformer replacement and lens replacement, as well as emergency fault locating and repair to include pulling and repairing airfield power and control cables.Performs maintenance and repairs on constant current regulators and their associated monitoring systems.Responsible for testing and maintaining uninterruptible power supply, emergency backup generators, distribution switchgear, lighting and controls, motor control centers, power monitoring equipment, and infrared testing on all power distribution equipment.Utilizes Airport purchasing procedures to acquire materials and supplies as needed.Makes budget recommendations for upgrades and design improvements.Works with staff on airfield lighting and trains them on safety and maintenance of the lighting systems.Troubleshoots and repairs the main electrical system, maintain tests and general up-keep of the generator system for airfield lighting and record keeping.Works with staff on updates and upgrades needed for airfield lighting.Understands and works with a 3‑phase input power with regulators.Conducts electrical systems inspections and keeps inspection records for all NFPA regulated codes.Document inspections, repairs, lockout steps, tests, and equipment status for facilities and airfield operations.Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSGraduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.5 years' experience in commercial/industrial electrical work.Education from an accredited college, university, or technical school in an electrical field can be substituted on a one year for one-year basis for required experience.Possession of a valid Electrician License preferred.Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREDWork independently, but under general supervision.Knowledge of schematics, meters, and safe electrical practices to isolate faults in lighting, controls, panels, or feeders.Knowledge of electrical systems that energize runway, taxiway, and airfield lighting assets.Understanding control circuits, such as, relays, contactors, PLC-style controls, switches, sensors, and protective devices used in airport systems.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTRequires 24-hour/7-day on-call status.Susceptible to mechanical, chemical, electrical, as well as other safety hazards associated with the repair, maintenance and operation of an airport.Able to lift 70 pounds, push, pull, climb and walk for most of the day.
