Job Description
This role focuses on inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing Excavator Mounted Vibrators (EMVs) and related hydraulic vibratory hammers used for piling on industrial excavators. The hydraulic mechanic performs detailed visual inspections, identifies damage or wear, determines whether components require repair or replacement, and ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently after maintenance and testing.
Responsibilities

• Perform thorough visual inspections of EMVs and hydraulic vibratory hammers attached to industrial excavators to assess overall condition and functionality.
• Check for hydraulic leaks and identify the source of any fluid loss or damage.
• Monitor and assess operating temperatures to ensure equipment runs within safe limits.
• Inspect gearbox oil levels and top up or service as needed to maintain proper lubrication.
• Inspect pins and bushings for wear, misalignment, or damage and determine appropriate corrective action.
• Assess isolation mounts for condition, wear, and integrity to ensure vibration control and safety.
• Inspect hydraulic cylinders for leaks and overall performance, recommending repairs or seal replacements as required.
• Check motor mounting bolts for correct torque and secure fastening to prevent mechanical failures.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to excessive vibration or noise, ensuring smooth and safe operation.
• Verify proper operation of the greasing system and address any faults or blockages.
• Replace commonly worn components such as hydraulic hoses, hydraulic motor seals, bearings, gearbox seals, clamp jaw inserts, pins, bushings, rubber isolators, hydraulic cylinder seal kits, wear plates, hydraulic fittings, sensors, and auto-grease components.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, hoses, fittings, and gauges on EMVs and related equipment.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on EMVs, hydraulic vibratory hammers, and related equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on motors, pumps, hoses, fittings, gauges, and other small engine components.
• Proficiency in conducting detailed visual inspections of mechanical and hydraulic parts to identify wear, damage, and potential failures.
• Experience working with heavy equipment, engines, and equipment maintenance in an industrial or construction environment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair issues related to hydraulic leaks, excessive vibration, noise, and component wear.
• Familiarity with replacing hydraulic hoses, seals, bearings, pins, bushings, rubber isolators, wear plates, fittings, sensors, and auto-grease components.
• Capability to operate forklifts and perform basic forklift maintenance.
• Comfort working with tools and equipment commonly used in mechanical and hydraulic repair.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to follow established procedures and guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Welding experience is a strong plus and supports structural and component repairs.
• Experience with engine repair and maintenance on heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
• Experience working with hydraulic hoses and fittings in field or shop environments.
• Familiarity with using torque tools to verify correct motor mounting bolt torque.
• Experience inspecting and maintaining greasing systems and auto-grease components.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team in an outdoor environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions about repair versus replacement of components.

Work Environment
This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work routine. Work takes place primarily outdoors, either under a covering or in open air, and involves hands-on tasks around heavy equipment and hydraulic machinery. The environment requires the use of personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and a safety vest. You work in a practical, field-oriented setting where safety, teamwork, and adherence to procedures are essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL 32208.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
