General Counsel About the Company Expanding homeowners insurance company Industry Insurance Type Privately Held About the Role The Company is in search of a General Counsel to spearhead the development and management of its legal and corporate governance frameworks. The successful candidate will serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive leadership, and Board of Directors, providing strategic leadership on a wide range of legal and governance matters. This includes establishing and maintaining corporate governance practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, and proactively managing risks. The role also involves overseeing commercial contracts, employment issues, and dispute resolution, as well as providing legal guidance on corporate transactions as the company expands. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and have 10-15 years of progressive legal experience, with a strong background in corporate governance and a proven track record as a legal generalist. Experience in the insurance industry, particularly with a focus on homeowners or P&C insurance, is strongly preferred. The role requires exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
