Legal Word Processing Specialist Long-Term Contract

Location: Downtown San Diego, CA | Fully Onsite
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week
Pay: Up to $35-40/hour DOE
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
The Opportunity
Eastridge is partnering with a highly respected, full-service business law firm with a longstanding presence in San Diego and a sophisticated client base to hire an experienced Legal Word Processing Specialist.
This is an excellent long-term opportunity for someone who thrives in a high-volume legal document production environment and has advanced Microsoft Word formatting skills.
What You'll Do
- Create, revise, format, proofread, and finalize complex legal and business documents
- Produce TOCs, TOAs, redlines, outlines, tables, mail merges, templates, and auto-numbered documents
- Transcribe interviews, hearings, and other materials involving multiple parties
- Prioritize and track incoming document-production requests and meet critical deadlines
- Proof final documents for formatting, grammar, accuracy, and completeness
- Communicate with attorneys and staff regarding project status and document issues
- Create and revise PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets as needed
- Scan, convert, format, and manipulate documents using Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of high-volume document production experience, preferably within a law firm
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including styles, TOC/TOA, redlines, templates, headers/footers, outlines, and auto-numbering
- Strong skills in Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of legal terminology and legal document formatting
- Typing speed of 70+ WPM
- Excellent proofreading, spelling, grammar, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple urgent requests and changing priorities
- Strong communication skills and a professional, service-oriented approach
- Legal secretarial experience is a plus
