Marias business analysts translate our customers' business needs into clear requirements and specifications that configuration, development, and testing teams can act on. As part of this you will document requirements, write functional specifications, and help our customers get the system behavior they actually need. And it's our job to help our customers succeed.As a Business Analyst on our Business Analysis team, you'll independently gather and document business requirements, translate them into clear functional specifications, and support system configuration and testing efforts. You'll build working knowledge of insurance functional areas and start contributing to solution discussions when system functionality doesn't fully align with business needs.We're a family-owned business, which shapes how we work more than you might expect. And the work you bill directly impacts the community that we call home.What you'll doIndependently gather, document, and validate business requirements through interviews and meetingsTranslate business needs into clear functional specifications—covering both off-the-shelf configuration and customization needs—for development, configuration, and testing teamsReview manuals and existing documentation and translate findings into specificationsIdentify missing, ambiguous, or conflicting requirements before development or configuration beginsValidate that documented requirements reflect actual insurance business rulesParticipate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by developing test scenarios, validating results, and documenting findingsDistinguish between requirement gaps and true system defects, and route them accordingly, following the appropriate ticketing or Change Management proceduresSupport system configuration and testing effortsContribute to solution discussions when system functionality doesn't fully align with business needsDocument billing-related requirements—billing plans, payment schedules, invoicing, and delinquency/cancellation processes—with guidanceDocument straightforward third-party integration requirements and data mapping with guidanceTrain client personnel on the use of functional/business applications software as part of delivery activitiesManage multiple assigned tasks accurately in a fast-paced environmentWhat you needRequiredAssociate's degree in a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree)Microsoft (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) experience1+ years of experience working with business processes, documentation, or software systemsProficiency with requirements/documentation and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, DevStride)Working knowledge of policy administration systems and the functional areas they support (policy, rating, billing, claims)Working knowledge of core billing concepts: billing plans, payment schedules, invoicing, and delinquency/cancellation processesWorking knowledge of common third-party integration points (rating bureaus, payment processors, document generation, reporting)Familiarity with multiple insurance lines of business (e.g., personal lines, commercial lines)Ability to work full-time, in-office in Covington, OHPreferredBachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Management, Accounting, or a related fieldPrior experience in the insurance industryPrior experience as an Associate Business Analyst or in a similar requirements-gathering roleAbout the pay range$45,000–$65,000 depending on experience.
