Medical Assistant (MA)

Family Medicine Clinic PositionThis key position is responsible for supporting our physicians and other health care providers with direct and indirect patient care and to ensure a smooth patient work flow. This position includes clerical, administrative and clinical duties on a daily basis. This position will apply knowledge of medical office practice, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. This is an "at will" position.Job Duties:Apply knowledge of medical office practice, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room proceduresPerform common administrative duties including answering telephone calls, greeting patients, approval, correspondence, arranging ancillary services, sending electronic prescriptions to provider for approval, call patients with test results, as well as any other follow up calls/dutiesLead patients to exam rooms and collect information for the provider, including, chief complaints, vital signs, medicine reconciliation, etc.Maintain records and record test resultsAssist with administering/maintaining a variety of treatments, procedures, and medications under the supervision of the medical provider, including injectionsAssist with keeping the patient flow smooth and provider on time with patient appointmentsUse and understand general medical terminologyEnsure clinic is well stocked with supplies, ordering as neededMaintain a clean, sanitary and safe work environmentAttend classes, training and meetings as scheduled and requiredOther assignments and duties as needs ariseRequirements:Abilities & Skills:Promote a cooperative and congenial environment working around patients, guests and colleaguesProficient oral and written communication skillsStrong multi-tasking skills with the ease of changing direction upon request or needSound analytical and problem solving skillsMaintain skills through provided training as well as self-studyKnowledge of modern clinical and office equipmentAbility to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate sensitivity to clients, visitors and staffStrong organizational and prioritization aptitudeComply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations, as well, as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in client and staff mattersConstant standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching throughout the day, Must be able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds or more on occasionExperience & Education:High School Graduate or GED equivalentPrior medical training and experienceComputer proficient; MS Office, InternetCPR CertificationExperience with an electric medical record (EMR)Note: Position descriptions are intended to serve as a guideline for typical duties and requirements of a position, but are not inclusive.
