Job Title Structural Dynamics Engineer Location Arnold AFB, TN Position Details Position Type: Regular, Full Time Pay Type: Exempt Grade: L07 (OA0720) – L08 (OA0818) Salary Range: $73,000 – $130,000 / year Job Summary Beyond New Horizons LLC (BNH) is seeking a Structured Dynamics Engineer to join the Engineering Solutions team supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex. The engineer will be part of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and enhancing U.S. Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment initiatives. Job Duties Conduct in‑depth structural analysis of mechanical components and assemblies to ensure integrity, safety, and performance, assessing stress, strain, deformation, fatigue, and load distribution. Develop and run Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to simulate structural behavior under various conditions, using ANSYS (preferred) or other FEA software. Recommend suitable materials based on mechanical properties, durability, and cost‑effectiveness. Collaborate with design teams to evaluate and refine structural designs, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. Perform load analysis for external forces such as dynamic and thermal loads, calculating stresses and strains to identify weaknesses. Investigate structural failures or anomalies, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Use CAD software to produce detailed drawings and models of structural components, including connections and load‑bearing elements. Maintain comprehensive documentation of analyses, design changes, and project progress, communicating findings through reports and presentations. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—including engineers, machinists, and project managers—to align structural requirements with overall project goals. Stay current with advancements in structural engineering, materials, and analysis techniques. Basic Qualifications BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in structural design and/or stress analysis, or an MS degree with at least 1 year’s applicable experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network. U.S. Citizenship required for employment at AEDC due to Air Force security requirements. Preferred Qualifications Fundamental engineering and science education with advanced knowledge of mathematics, algorithms, and computer languages. Experience working in a team to develop and apply FEA models using software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, etc. Demonstrated technical knowledge of computational engineering methods and application of structural tools to engineering problems.
