Job Summary The Registered Nurse on Unit plays a key role in patient care management, following the organization’s nursing practice model. The RN works with other health‑care staff to deliver effective patient care, using the nursing process to diagnose patient responses and create care plans. Essential Functions of the Role Prioritize needs; create, implement and assess care plans to achieve outcomes and adapt plans as necessary. Observe indicators closely and support evidence‑based changes with research. Create a caring, safe environment for patients, families, and staff. Build relationships while maintaining boundaries; focus on managing pain to promote healing. Facilitate learning for all members of the health‑care team. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute integrated care plans. Use problem‑solving strategies and utilize resources to support patients, families, and staff as part of a systems‑thinking approach. Key Success Factors Familiarity with nursing and patient‑care standards and procedures. Awareness of legal requirements and accreditation standards. Good command of medical terminology, focused on promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention. Effective communication skills and social aptitude for diverse stakeholders. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to identify and report changes in patient conditions and modify care plans. Basic computer skills for day‑to‑day assignments.
