Principal Laboratory Engineer

GE HealthCare seeks a Principal Laboratory Engineer to lead mechanical and environmental testing capabilities for medical-device certification. The role combines technical expertise in product design and testing with strategic leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination to improve device quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for global mechanical and environmental laboratory capabilities supporting product development and certification
• Research and evaluate medical-device hardware designs against product, regulatory, and testing requirements
• Partner with design teams to identify, investigate, and resolve product-design issues across multiple engineering domains
• Develop testing technology strategies and capability roadmaps in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams
• Mentor and develop mechanical and electrical engineers through technical reviews and problem-solving activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering, product development, testing, or systems engineering experience
• Significant experience in product design, development, verification, or testing in regulated medical-device industry
• Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design, material selection, thermal management, acoustic control, or environmental testing
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and influencing cross-functional decisions
• Knowledge of new-product-introduction processes and quality-management systems
• Ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional team environments
