Senior AI Software Engineer - Hedge Fund

Salary: $200,000 - 300,000 per year Requirements:

• At least 4 years of experience building backend systems
• Strong Python skills and proficiency in a second language, such as Java or C++
• Linux experience
• Production experience with GCP or AWS
• Interest in AI; deep AI experience is not required
• Experience at a startup or mid-sized company building systems from the ground up is advantageous
• Hedge fund experience is helpful but not required

• Build production-grade internal AI tools using on-premises data
• Develop orchestration, vector search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities for private datasets
• Integrate secure interfaces with OpenAI and Anthropic APIs
• Collaborate with our Head of AI Engineering and partners across investment, compliance, and operations

We are a New York multi-strategy hedge fund launching a new central AI engineering team, and this role will be among its first hires. You will build production systems rather than proof-of-concept projects. The position is Senior or Staff Software Engineer on our AI Core Systems team, with a technology environment that includes Python, C++ or Java, AWS, GCP, Kafka, ClickHouse, Kubernetes, and MLOps. Compensation is $200,000–$300,000 base salary plus bonus. The role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid schedule of four days per week in the office; relocation is available.
