About the Position

Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Interventional Services Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day - 3x12 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab License: Current state licensure issued by regulatory board Certifications: ARRT certification, BLS, ACLS certification (or within 6 months of hire) Must-Have: Advanced technical competence in procedural imaging and radiation safety Description: The Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Radiologic Technologist supports diagnostic and interventional procedures through expert operation of fluoroscopic imaging equipment and procedural workflow coordination. This role works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient patient care. The technologist demonstrates advanced technical competence in procedural imaging, radiation safety, and sterile field maintenance while adhering to departmental protocols and regulatory standards. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for the successful completion of the procedure. The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible to the Unit Manager and Surgical Services Director. Essential Job Functions: Performs a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Operates fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Ensures optimal image quality, positioning, and equipment settings based on procedural needs. Maintains strict adherence to radiation safety policies. Enters charges into the electronic system when necessary. Functions as the scrub technologist using sterile techniques to assist physicians during procedures. Prepares and organizes sterile instruments and procedural trays. Anticipates physician needs during critical moments. Documents all supplies used and procedural details accurately. Communicates real-time findings to the procedural team. Assists with patient preparation and positioning. Performs patient identification and timeout processes in accordance with policy. Provides support during sedation, as needed. Performs sheath pulls and vascular access management as required. Collaborates with nursing and physicians regarding contrast allergies or sensitivities. Assists with managing supplies, restocking procedure rooms, and checking equipment functionality. Assists with tracking radiation dose metrics and equipment service needs. Works independently and makes evaluations based on measurable criteria. Recognizes the rights, responsibilities, and confidentiality of all patients. Communicates effectively with culturally diverse patient conditions. Qualifications: Education: Required: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program Preferred: BS in Radiologic Science/Medical Imaging Experience: Required: At least one year's experience in Interventional Radiology and/or Cath Lab. Preferred: At least three years in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab. Other: Ability to provide care for the patient's age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being. Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse patient conditions essential for successful procedures. The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible to the Unit Manager and Surgical Services Director.
