Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid State License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS preferred Must-Have: - Charge experience preferred - Ability to work with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations - Proficiency in airway assessment, dysrhythmia recognition, and management of ventilated patients Description: First-timers are accepted for this position. Weekend availability is required once every four-week period. Call is required once every four-week period. This unit supports complex cases requiring anesthesia, including various surgical procedures. Occasionally, the nurse may need to prep ICU patients. Shifts will include staggered start times throughout the day and night. The PACU has 29 bays across two floors. A primary and secondary call shift will be included in the four-week schedule. The patient population includes pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, with same-day surgeries and inpatient admissions. Procedures recovered in this PACU may require anesthesia or spinal anesthesia, including vascular, general, orthopedic, pediatric, and other specialty surgeries. Standards set by professional nursing organizations will be followed. This is a Level II Trauma Center. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities as needed. Refusal to float may lead to termination of the assignment. Communication devices will be provided to perform assigned duties at no cost. All requests for time off must be submitted upfront. Inflexibility regarding scheduling may result in contract termination. References covering one year within the last three years are required.
