Nurse Practitioner - Physician Assistant - Neurocognitive - FT

Overview Professional collaborative role supporting outpatient clinic patients. Works under supervision of the Medical Director and involves planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical and nursing care, with responsibility for primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning. Responsibilities Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical and nursing care for outpatient clinic patients. Provide primary and urgent medical management, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients. Teach residents and medical students, and contribute to staff development and education. Educate patients, families, staff, and the community. Assist in discharge planning. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience: Master’s degree in nursing. Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program. No required work experience; preferred 3 years of related experience. Certifications: Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice. Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner certified by ANCC or AANPCP (or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certified by ANCC or AANPCP). License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA certified, and BCLS/ACLS certification from the American Heart Association. Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners (or State Board of Nursing for some states). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Computer skills for data entry and retrieval. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Windows-style applications and related software. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols. Reliable transportation to travel throughout facilities. Ability to work a flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call). Job Duties Utilize approved medical practices process in the delivery of patient care. Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate for patient age groups. Maintain an attitude of inquiry toward medical practices and patient care outcomes, and may develop research methodology. Provide education experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, appropriate introduction, communication style, and service explanations. Perform other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: may require lifting 20–50 lbs occasionally, or 10–25 lbs frequently, or lighter weights constantly; may involve pushing/pulling. Must stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach, and grasp manual tasks. Exposure to blood, body fluids, specimens, and communicable diseases in patient care settings.
