Psychologist Candidate - FCF.

The candidate provides intensive treatment, including the development and implementation of individual treatment plans, conducts group and individual therapy, prepares evaluations for case management, community corrections, Parole Board, and parole releases. The role includes conducting training workshops for the correctional system on the dynamics of sex offenders, treatment and management in a correctional setting, and high‑risk behaviors; completing release planning in coordination with community parole officers and other agencies; providing crisis intervention; monitoring chronically mentally ill inmates; and preparing offense‑specific evaluations in accordance with Colorado Sex Offender Management Board standards. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid permit as a Psychologist Candidate from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners Special Qualifications Upon appointment, must apply within 30 days of completing the Training Academy to obtain listing with the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Preferred Qualifications Experience providing behavioral health treatment within a correctional environment Current listing with the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) as a treatment provider or evaluator Required Competencies Ability to effectively interact with and provide direct care to inmates Advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of mental health standards and guidelines Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across facility programs and with external agencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must maintain required permit/licensure Ability to read and comprehend English; to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain‑language and accessibility guidelines Self‑control and ability to maintain composure in stressful and potentially violent situations Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure and observant throughout shifts Tolerance to stress, confinement, and high‑stakes interaction Conditions of Employment Must be 21 years of age or older Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record; ability to operate a state‑owned vehicle if required Possess a high school diploma or GED No felony convictions or related offenses; compliance with state and federal statutes regarding sexual offenses and employee conduct Valid U.S. work authorization at the time of application Successful completion of all modules of the six‑week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, including defensive tactics and English comprehension Demonstrated physical ability to perform defensive tactics and meet safety requirements, including capsicum exposure and basic self‑defense drills Pass a drug screening and comply with ongoing random drug testing throughout employment Background investigation complete and satisfactory Equal‑Opportunity Employer Statement The State of Colorado is an equal‑opportunity employer committed to building inclusive, innovative work environments.
