Associate Scientist II, Neuroscience

PTC Therapeutics seeks an Associate Scientist II to design and execute experiments supporting early-stage neuroscience drug discovery. The role involves conducting cell-based screening assays, performing target deconvolution studies, and communicating findings to cross-functional teams in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments supporting hit-to-lead optimization and new chemical entity identification under general supervision
• Conduct weekly cell-based screening assays and maintain multiple cell lines for in vitro screening activities
• Perform target deconvolution studies using flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, RT-qPCR, and primary cell isolation techniques
• Maintain audit-ready laboratory notebooks, interpret experimental results, and communicate findings to project teams and leadership
• Contribute to assay design and optimization, compound profiling across cell types, manuscript preparation, and patent applications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or Immunology with 6+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 2+ years experience
• Demonstrated expertise with multi-color flow cytometry and immunophenotyping of primary human cells
• Hands-on mammalian tissue culture experience with excellent aseptic technique
• Working knowledge of cell and molecular biology principles and ability to troubleshoot experiments independently
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and effective written and verbal communication
• Preferred: foundational understanding of adaptive and innate immune systems; experience with high-throughput assay development
