Position Summary:
At Bailey Nurseries, our roots run deep. For more than a century, we've been growing plants, building partnerships, and creating beautiful landscapes across North America. We believe our people are the foundation of our success, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Human Resources Business Partner to help cultivate an exceptional employee experience across our Oregon and Washington operations.
This is more than a traditional HR role. As a trusted advisor to business leaders and a coach to HR professionals, you'll help shape workforce strategy, strengthen organizational effectiveness, develop leaders, and foster a positive culture in a dynamic, seasonal production environment.
If you're a strategic HR leader who enjoys partnering closely with operations, leading teams, solving complex challenges, and making a measurable impact on people and business results, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As the senior HR leader supporting Bailey Nurseries' West Coast operations, you'll serve as a key member of the leadership team and a trusted partner to managers, employees, and HR team members across multiple locations.
Lead Strategic HR Partnership
- Partner with leaders to align people strategies with business objectives and operational priorities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
- Help drive consistency in HR practices while supporting the unique needs of individual locations.
- Collaborate with the CHRO and leadership teams to execute strategic HR initiatives.
Develop and Lead a High-Performing HR Team
- Coach, mentor, and support a team of HR professionals across Oregon and Washington.
- Foster accountability, professional growth, and continuous development within the HR team.
- Ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality HR support throughout the region.
- Lead the execution of key HR initiatives and programs.
Shape the Workforce of the Future
- Partner with operations leaders on workforce planning and staffing strategies.
- Guide recruitment and onboarding efforts to support business growth and seasonal workforce demands.
- Support organizational changes, communications, and change management initiatives.
- Help build talent pipelines and strengthen retention strategies.
Strengthen Leadership and Employee Relations
- Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and leadership effectiveness.
- Lead sensitive and complex employee relations matters, investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Build manager confidence and capability through practical guidance and training.
- Promote a culture of accountability, respect, engagement, and inclusion.
Drive Compliance and Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Lead efforts to standardize and improve HR processes, systems, and documentation.
- Partner with Safety, Payroll, and Operations teams to support organizational effectiveness and employee wellbeing.
- Use HR data and trends to identify opportunities and make informed recommendations.
Champion Talent Development and Culture
- Support leadership development and manager training initiatives.
- Identify talent needs and opportunities for employee growth.
- Partner on compensation and benefits initiatives.
- Help reinforce Bailey's values-driven culture and commitment to employee success.
What You Bring
We're looking for a strategic, relationship-focused HR professional who is equally comfortable in the boardroom, on the production floor, and coaching managers through real-world people challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five or more years of progressive HR Business Partner or HR leadership experience.
- Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring HR team members.
- Strong employee relations expertise, including investigations, performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
- Thorough knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to influence leaders, build trust, and drive organizational change.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate HR data into business recommendations.
- Experience working with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience in agriculture, horticulture, manufacturing, production, distribution, or other operational environments.
- Multi-site HR leadership experience.
- Experience supporting seasonal or high-volume workforces.
