Medical Assistant Urology

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant in this role supports a procedural-heavy outpatient clinic specializing in urology. The position involves preparing patients, recording medical histories, obtaining vital signs, assisting with procedures such as cystoscopy and prostate biopsy, specimen collection, and maintaining sterile fields. The Medical Assistant collaborates closely with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and quality care in a fast-paced environment. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity requiring at least 6 months of relevant experience and the ability to float between clinic locations as needed. Responsibilities:

• Obtain and record patient vital signs accurately.
• Prepare patients for exams by recording history, medications, and allergies.
• Set up and assist with urology-specific procedures including cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, and bladder scans.
• Maintain sterile fields during procedures.
• Collect, label, and handle specimens according to protocol.
• Room patients efficiently and professionally.
• Float to alternate clinic location as scheduled.
• Use electronic medical records (preferably EPIC) for charting and documentation.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) preferred; Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) with relevant procedural clinic experience accepted.
• Minimum 6 months experience in an adult/pediatric outpatient clinic setting, preferably in urology, otolaryngology, or dermatology.
• Proficiency in obtaining vital signs and patient preparation.
• Experience assisting with sterile procedures and specimen collection.
• Reliable transportation for travel between clinic locations.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with EPIC electronic health records system.
• Familiarity with specialized equipment such as Trophon, Ultrasound Biopsy machine, and Bladder Scanner.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to float to the Ravenna clinic location on Mondays.
• Reliable personal transportation required; public transportation is not acceptable.
• This position is a temp-to-hire opportunity; permanent placement is expected if performance is satisfactory.
• No weekend or on-call requirements.

Scheduling:

• 40-hour workweek: Four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day, Monday through Friday, with weekends off.
• Typical full days from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM.
• The half day (8:00 AM to 12:00 PM) alternates depending on the physician's operating room schedule.
