What you can expect as a Sheet Metal Technician at West Star Each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need a basic to advanced knowledge of turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques. You may also be required to help supervise crews and assist in organizing manpower and setting priorities for involved projects. Essential Functions Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components. Application and removal of sealant, sound‑deadening, and finish materials. Maintenance, cleaning, and repair of shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required. Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases. Communicate effectively and clearly in English (speak, write, read). Any other job‑related duties assigned by supervisor or management. Your Education High school diploma or equivalent; Airframe and Powerplant License preferred. Your Experience Prior experience working with sheet metal is preferred. Your Sense of Responsibility Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments; notify supervisor in advance if unable to work; rely on reliable transportation; perform all work in accordance with FAA guidelines; follow company and safety rules; and maintain customer‑oriented work habits. Physical Requirements Lifts 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting. Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Climbs ladders and stairs, works in small, restricted areas. Stands for long periods of time. Mental Requirements Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines; troubleshoot or evaluate system operation; work with others professionally. Supervision Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader; may be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft. Equipment Used Personal hand tools; pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment; jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices; tugs, power carts, and other engine‑powered equipment. Compensation & Benefit Information Hourly rate generally ranges between $22–$38. Actual hourly rate will vary. Shift differential for alternate shift. Additional compensation includes semi‑annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
