Canadian Corporate Counsel (Senior Specialist Advisor)

NTT DATA America seeks a Canadian Corporate Counsel to join our Legal Department’s Employment Law team. Working closely with senior legal counsel, Human Resources, Compliance, and business leaders, the Junior Legal Counsel will provide practical legal advice on Canadian employment matters, workplace investigations, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and related legal issues. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of legal and business matters while helping the organization manage risk and maintain compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide day-to-day legal support on Canadian employment law matters, including hiring, discipline, accommodations, leaves of absence, workplace policies, employee relations, and terminations.
- Assist Human Resources and management with workplace investigations and employment-related disputes.
- Support compliance initiatives, including policy development, training programs, regulatory compliance reviews, and internal investigations.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting employment, privacy, and compliance obligations in Canada.
- Review, draft, and update employment-related agreements, policies, notices, and other legal documents.
- Assist with responses to employment claims, government inquiries, and regulatory matters.
- Support corporate governance and entity management activities for Canadian operations.
- Conduct legal research and prepare practical guidance for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams, HR professionals, compliance personnel, and business leaders across North America.
- Assist senior counsel with special projects and other legal matters as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society.
- 1–4 years of legal experience, preferably in employment law, labor law, compliance, litigation, or general corporate practice.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and a practical, business-focused approach to legal issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Canadian employment law matters in-house or at a law firm.
- Familiarity with workplace investigations and employee relations matters.
- Knowledge of compliance programs, ethics, privacy, or regulatory requirements.
- French written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working within a large, multinational organization.
- Experience with a unionized employee population
- General familiarity with Canada public sector law (Federal and Provincial)

This role may be performed remotely (within Canada) and/or from one of our Canadian hub offices in Burnaby, BC, Mississauga, ON, and Halifax.
Salary Range:
The expected salary range for this position is $111,892 - $167,838 CAD

NTT DATA America recherche un(e) Conseiller(e) juridique d’entreprise canadien(ne) pour se joindre à l’équipe de droit du travail de notre Service juridique. En collaboration étroite avec les conseillers juridiques principaux, les Ressources humaines, la Conformité et les dirigeants d’entreprise, le/la Conseiller(e) juridique junior fournira des conseils juridiques pratiques sur les questions d’emploi canadiennes, les enquêtes en milieu de travail, la conformité réglementaire, la gouvernance d’entreprise et les questions juridiques connexes. Le/la candidat(e) retenu(e) sera exposé(e) à un large éventail de questions juridiques et d’affaires tout en aidant l’organisation à gérer les risques et à maintenir la conformité avec les lois applicables et les politiques de l’entreprise.
Responsabilités :
Fournir un soutien juridique quotidien en matière de droit du travail canadien, y compris l’embauche, les mesures disciplinaires, les accommodements, les congés, les politiques en milieu de travail, les relations avec les employés et les cessations d’emploi.Assister les Ressources humaines et la direction dans les enquêtes en milieu de travail et les différends liés à l’emploi.Soutenir les initiatives de conformité, y compris l’élaboration de politiques, les programmes de formation, les revues de conformité réglementaire et les enquêtes internes.Surveiller les développements juridiques et réglementaires touchant l’emploi, la protection de la vie privée et les obligations de conformité au Canada.Réviser, rédiger et mettre à jour les ententes, politiques, avis et autres documents juridiques liés à l’emploi.Assister dans les réponses aux réclamations en matière d’emploi, aux demandes gouvernementales et aux questions réglementaires.Soutenir les activités de gouvernance d’entreprise et de gestion des entités pour les opérations canadiennes.Effectuer des recherches juridiques et préparer des orientations pratiques pour les parties prenantes de l’entreprise.Collaborer avec les équipes juridiques internes, les professionnels des RH, le personnel de conformité et les dirigeants d’entreprise à travers l’Amérique du Nord.Assister les conseillers juridiques principaux dans des projets spéciaux et d’autres questions juridiques selon les besoins.
Qualifications requises :
Diplôme en droit (J.D., LL.B. ou équivalent) et inscription en règle auprès d’un barreau provincial canadien.1 à 4 années d’expérience juridique, de préférence en droit du travail, droit des relations de travail, conformité, litige ou pratique générale en droit des sociétés.Solides compétences en recherche juridique, en analyse et en rédaction.Excellentes aptitudes en communication écrite et verbale en anglais.Capacité à gérer plusieurs priorités et à travailler efficacement dans un environnement au rythme soutenu.Bon jugement, professionnalisme et approche pratique et orientée vers les affaires pour les questions juridiques.Capacité à travailler en collaboration avec des équipes interfonctionnelles et des parties prenantes.
Qualifications souhaitées :
Expérience en soutien aux questions de droit du travail canadien en entreprise ou au sein d’un cabinet d’avocats.Connaissance des enquêtes en milieu de travail et des questions de relations avec les employés.Connaissance des programmes de conformité, d’éthique, de protection de la vie privée ou des exigences réglementaires.Compétences en communication écrite et verbale en français.Expérience au sein d’une grande organisation multinationale.Expérience avec une population d’employés syndiqués.Connaissance générale du droit du secteur public canadien (fédéral et provincial).
