Become a Senior Companion! (Must be 55+)
Age Strong - Boston AmeriCorps Seniors
AmeriCorps Senior Companions (Must be 55+) offer one-on-one support to other older adults who have difficulty completing everyday tasks. Volunteers assist with:
- grocery shopping
- escorts to medical appointments
- Respite to family caregivers
- medication reminders, and
- Socialization
Because of this program, thousands of residents can live with dignity in their own homes. For their service, Senior Companions receive a $4.00 an hour (tax-free) stipend and reimbursement for:
- transportation
- some meals, and
- free accident and liability insurance during service.
ELIGIBILITY
- Be 55+ years of age
- Income Qualify
- Pass a Background Check
- Have a Valid ID
- Must be able to serve at least 5 hours per week
- Must be a Boston resident*
