Medical Director, Medical Safety

Medtronic seeks a part-time Medical Director for Medical Safety in the Neurovascular Operating Unit based in Irvine, California. This remote role provides physician leadership on patient safety across the product lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams on clinical development, regulatory activities, and post-market surveillance.

Responsibilities

• Lead patient safety advocacy and medical oversight across neurovascular product portfolio
• Evaluate safety signals, adverse events, and emerging risks to inform benefit-risk assessments
• Provide medical expertise on product development, clinical studies, risk management, and post-market surveillance
• Review and approve safety, clinical, and regulatory documents for product lifecycle activities
• Represent Medical Safety in governance, quality, and leadership forums; engage with regulators and healthcare professionals

Requirements

• MD, DO, or international equivalent medical degree
• Board certification in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, or related interventional specialty
• Minimum 10 years clinical experience in neurovascular intervention or closely related specialty
• Minimum 5 years independent patient care experience post-residency or fellowship
• Ability to interpret clinical research, medical, and safety data for benefit-risk assessments
