Responsibilities The Nurse Educator is responsible for assisting with the onboarding of new hires onto the unit and providing continued education to staff throughout the year. Responsibilities include assigning preceptors to new hires, overseeing the onboarding process, coordinating orientation progress meetings, supporting annual competency validation, and ensuring an educational foundation consistent with regulatory requirements and organizational safety culture. Provision of Services Demonstrates leadership in the provision of services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services/functions throughout NWTHS. Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance of management, clinical, and/or support services. Maintains accountability for overall processes affecting unit functioning, demonstrating improvement in at least one process or outcome annually. Maintains regulatory compliance related to The Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Board of Nursing. Assures implementation and evaluation of new and/or enhanced services. Utilizes clinical and leadership experience and expertise to facilitate, measure, evaluate, and interpret care needs of patients and performance of staff, achieving highest quality care to patients served. Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas. BSN required or national certification in nursing specialty within one year of becoming a unit-based educator. Three years similar nursing experience, education experience preferred. Maintain Handle with Care certification annually. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment.
