The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School seeks full‑time Hospitalist Rounders to join our Hospitalist Division. Candidates will provide inpatient care for patients admitted to the hospitalist service, collaborating closely with consultants, subspecialists, and multidisciplinary teams to manage clinical care and coordinate transitions to ambulatory settings.

Salary: Minimum academic base of $115,230, eligible for faculty practice. Final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, and available funding, with consideration of market benchmarks and internal equity.

Position Status: Full Time – 7-on / 7-off schedule to ensure appropriate patient care transitions.

Hiring Dates: Open 09/03/2025 – Close 08/27/2026.

Core Responsibilities:

• Assume primary responsibility for admitted patients on the hospitalist medicine service.
• Coordinate medical management in partnership with consultants and specialists.
• Facilitate transitions of care back to ambulatory settings.
• Collaborate with case management, social work, bed management, pharmacy, and other teams to support patient and family communication and care planning.
• Engage in academic activities including teaching, quality improvement, and research, in collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education and Experience: MD/DO or equivalent; board eligible in Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine preferred.
• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong clinical acumen in internal medicine, effective communication skills, teamwork, and ability to manage complex inpatient cases within a multidisciplinary setting.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a hospitalist setting, research involvement, and commitment to resident education.
• Physical Demands and Work Environment: Ability to work a 7-on / 7-off shift model and maintain patient care standards in an active hospital environment.
