Special Procedure Technologist (Radiologic Technologist), Cardiac Catheter Lab Job Information Location: RWJ Rahway, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065 Pay Range: $44.91 - $55.62 per hour Shift: Day, 3 x 12 hour shifts per week On-call: Two winter holidays and two summer holidays Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital Job Overview The Special Procedures Technologist prepares patients for procedures and explains the process, operates diagnostic equipment and cardiac catheterization tools, and assists physicians in performing special radiology angiographic and interventional procedures to support cardiac and vascular care. Qualifications Required Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT) OR graduate of approved CVT school Problem‑solving, critical thinking, decisive judgment, collaboration, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment Preferred Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Minimum 2 years Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology scrubbing and hemodynamic monitoring experience Certifications and Licenses Required NJ Certified X‑Ray Technologist (NJ CXT) National registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) EKG Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association Essential Functions Work knowledge of procedure protocols including prep, positioning, markers, safety & shielding, processing, and image labeling Operate fluoroscopy equipment and maintain quality control Calibrate, maintain, adjust, and operate equipment, computer, and applications Report equipment failure or other problems to appropriate support Proficient in performance of angiographic and interventional procedures Assist physicians during angiographic and interventional procedures; include scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, setting up sterile trays and other equipment following aseptic technique, handling instruments, operating & monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings, positioning patients for rapid sequence filming during contrast media administration, scrub to assist with passage of catheters/guidewires; alert physician to changes in patient condition Utilize ICVS and PACS systems to input accurately identified and labeled images of patients Retrieve old images and films when necessary Cooperate with physicians, nurses, and other technical staff in an invasive and/or surgical environment Demonstrate flexibility, tact, and ability to perform both independently and as a team member Initiate and assume multi‑task duties and function under significant time pressures Perform other related duties incidental to the work Benefits and Perks Paid Time Off (PTO) Medical and Prescription Drug Insurance Dental and Vision Insurance Retirement Plans Short & Long Term Disability Life & Accidental Death Insurance Tuition Reimbursement Health Care/Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts Wellness Programs Voluntary Benefits (e.g., Pet Insurance) Discounts through our partners such as NJ Devils, NJ PAC, Verizon, and more!
