Job Summary Mass General Brigham (MGB) Enterprise Pathology is a major strategic integrated service that delivers laboratory testing across MGB hospitals. The Operations Manager reports to the Hospital Laboratory Administrative Director and oversees daily clinical operations, staffing, training, quality, safety, and compliance. The role coordinates with the CLIA Laboratory Director, section leaders, and system‑wide partners to ensure efficient workflows, cost control, and continuous improvement. Additional responsibilities include capital planning, capital alignment, budget monitoring, and committee participation. The position is on‑site. Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities) Ensure adherence to CAP, TJC, CLIA, CLSI, FDA, and DPH standards in collaboration with the Compliance team. Provide direct oversight, performance evaluations, and leadership development for technical and supervisory staff. Serve as interim section leader when required and support employee engagement and HR initiatives. Oversee the educational program, including continuing education, proficiency testing, and training program development. Collaborate with hospital departments, providers, and outpatient sites to deliver accurate test results. Analyze safety reports, implement improvement initiatives, and maintain quality assurance. Work with the Administrative Director to set priorities for capital and system testing alignment, create budgets, monitor variances, and pursue benchmarking and process improvement. Represent the laboratory on committees, workgroups, and initiatives as delegated. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biology (required). Licenses and Credentials Medical Technologist (ASCP) – BOC certification required. Experience People Management Experience: 3–5 years (required). Clinical Laboratory Experience: 5–7 years (required). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to lead teams and drive change via execution of system vision and priorities. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and follow through proactively. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Superb interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience identifying, hiring, and developing leaders to support personal growth and organizational success. Strong analytical and financial management skills; ability to identify cost trends, evaluate performance metrics, and support fiscal responsibility.
