Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid NY license required in hand Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and placing IVs Description: Position available for an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. 1 year of experience required. First-timers accepted. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS. Nurse-patient ratio is 1:5 with mixed/shared acuity levels. Open to accommodating block schedule; however, not guaranteed. Locals not accepted (must be more than 75 miles away). Pending license accepted is not allowed. Minimal RTO restrictions apply. RNs must have mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement. Floating is required when census warrants. Every other weekend is required. Skills necessary include general emergency department skills, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, blood product administration, central line care, and emergency medication administration. Epic charting experience is preferred. Scrub color can be any combination of navy and white. Daily census averages 64 with approximately 145 visits per day. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Additional interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. RNs should be capable of managing special procedures and diagnoses, including blood product administration and procedural sedation monitoring. Candidates should be prepared for potential floating and flexible scheduling.
