Medical Support Assistant (Patient Registration)

Job TitleJob DescriptionInterviews patients and/or family members to obtain and verify demographic, tribal eligibility, and insurance information and update health records.Verifies patient eligibility and third-party coverage by contacting insurance providers and applicable federal and state agencies; identifies and refers potential eligibility cases as appropriate.Enters and maintains patient information, assists with required forms, and obtains necessary documentation and signatures for alternate resources and Purchase Referred Care.Oversees the patient admission, transfer, and discharge process by coordinating with physicians, nurses, patients, and other staff; completes required documentation, patient identification, admission and discharge forms, diagnoses, and coding.Maintains and reconciles inpatient census and statistical reports, verifies patient movement and discharge information, researches discrepancies, and makes appropriate corrections.
