Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Special Services Director, assess students' intellectual and mental functional levels; provide information for program development and student placement; develop behavior plans; and provide information on child development and/or issues on specific students to instructional personnel. The School Psychologist is part of the District Evaluation/Assessment Team and is responsible for the evaluation of new referral students. Key Responsibilities Work with students, teachers, and families to support student achievement and access to education. Identify and assist in implementing accommodations for students' individual needs. Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for special education eligibility. Interpret and integrate assessment information into program and service decisions. Write evaluation reports and provide feedback to team members and parents. Lead multi‑disciplinary teams in completing evaluations. Provide counseling activities and support services. Consult with parents, staff, and outside agencies on mental health, behaviour, and educational concerns. Serve as liaison for referrals and outside agency contacts. Document and manage evaluation timelines and reporting. Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate as a School Psychologist. Master's degree or Ed.S. in School Psychology or higher. Successful Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint clearance. Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility. Proof of immunisation if born 1/1/1957 or later. Valid I‑9 employment eligibility. Completion of all district‑required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days of hire. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Understanding of special education laws and procedures (IDEA, IEPs, 504 plans). Knowledge of instructional practices for students with behavioural, developmental, and learning needs. Understanding of child psychology principles and current developments. Knowledge of data systems and analysis. Understanding of behavioural supports including PBIS, de‑escalation strategies, and behaviour management systems. Computer skills for district software (Google Suite, Skyward, etc.). Knowledge of inclusion practices and access to the general education curriculum. Understanding of child development and social‑emotional learning. Ability to deliver differentiated instruction. Develop and implement IEPs and BIPs. Effective communication with students, families, and staff. Collaboration with teachers, specialists, and support staff. Self‑evaluation and professional growth. Leadership with colleagues in practice areas. Positive relationship building with students, including complex needs. Calm, flexible judgment in challenging situations. Time‑management and multitasking. Teamwork and confidentiality. Commitment to continuous professional development. Working Conditions Work is performed in schools with frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and community agencies. The position requires travel between district buildings and attendance at meetings or trainings outside regular school hours. The psychologist may encounter challenging behaviours, crisis situations, and emotionally sensitive information. Duties may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer use, and moving materials.
