General Manager

POET RESEARCH CENTER GENERAL MANAGER

POET is seeking a General Manager for the POET Research Center (PRC), a unique plant within POET that has transformed from the original biorefinery to a research center. The PRC General Manager manages the overall facility and has responsibility for research conducted onsite. The role requires balancing profitability with generating valuable research data, teamwork within the PRC team and with other POET companies, and representing POET with external collaborators.

Responsibilities include ensuring PRC is operating safely and efficiently, communicating business and research priorities, analyzing new technology and enterprise opportunities, managing staff, and maintaining food safety and quality of POET's products and processes.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or science related field, experience managing P&L, financial reporting, legal documents, and negotiations, culture championing, experience developing technical and plant operations team members, passion for data analytics, enthusiasm for research, experience in public policy and community relations, and proficiency with environmental, health, and safety standards and reporting.

A successful candidate will have high level of personal integrity, interpersonal skills, demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills, ability to embrace and promote change, innovative mindset, ability to think objectively, self-awareness in the face of uncertainty, and ability to work in a team environment.

The work environment at POET is dynamic, with a balance between time spent in the office and at the bioprocessing facility, which may include some physical labor. Physical requirements include wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), working at extreme heights and in extreme temperatures, using various equipment/tools, and performing various physical tasks.
