GIS Project Coordinator (Part-Time) Information Technology Department Starting Salary: $27.53 Hourly FLSA Position Class: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Work Schedule: PT / Varies. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8AM-5PM Posting Closing Date: July 31, 2026 or until filled Job Overview The GIS Project Coordinator will work closely with IT and GIS supervisors to create and coordinate project materials relating to the IT Dept. This will include coordinating project plans, tracking progress, coordinating meetings, managing documentation, and reporting updates. This position will be a primary liaison between the IT Department and other city departments and administration. NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Responsibilities Assists IT and GIS staff in creating project plans, defining milestones, and updating schedules. Assists with assessing the needs of city IT/GIS users; works with various departments to identify programs, services, and/or processes that require IT/GIS project management. Creates and maintains project documentation, action items, and status updates. Acts as a liaison between IT/GIS team members and other city department personnel and outside vendors. Tracks project progress, coordinates project meetings, identifies issues with projects, and reports delays. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Associate’s degree in project management, GIS, Information Systems, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in any of the following: IT or GIS Project Management, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft SQL Server, Project Management Software, or ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS. Requirements Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or any valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of project management principles and procedures Understanding of IT and GIS principles, systems, technologies, and practices. Familiarity with the Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, Planner, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and Teams. Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, department heads, external agencies, and vendors. Job Related Physical Requirements This position involves sedentary work requiring the exertion of 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met; vocal communication is required to express thoughts and exchange information; hearing is required to respond to spoken words and to receive and understand information; visual acuity is required for color perception, inspecting items for proper length, width, and shape, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
