Production Supervisor

Directs all areas of production and related services to achieve timely production of quality products at the most economical costs, and in proper activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in our industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Safety and Security - Enforce all safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; and ensures that all equipment and materials are used properly.
• Food Safety and Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; develops, supports and maintains an effective relationship with the QA Department..
• Supervises and directs Production Operators; implements the approved production plan. Provide visible leadership and direction to plant operations and employees.
• Support and maintain an effective relationship with the QA Department, coordinating efforts to consistently produce high quality product.
• Train production personnel, and/or insure proper training by other senior production personnel. Provide all necessary information to employees relative to Hazard Communication, Safety Rules, Work and Conduct Rules, Good Manufacturing Practices, etc.
• Review production paperwork for completeness and correctness.
• Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Assist in development or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
• Supervises staff to include training (production, equipment, quality, and safety), evaluating performance including input on annual employee evaluations, and determining disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Assists with coordinating various plant departments to ensure efficient and effective production operations.
• Back up Plant Superintendent in performing scheduling personnel and resources.
• Responds to employee and management questions and concerns.
• Ensures production schedules, quality initiatives, safety targets, efficiency metrics and other operational measurements are met for the functions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve product flow and production upset conditions or otherwise.
• Serve as back up for the Production Superintendent and Warehouse Supervisor and be able to perform all corresponding work.
• Executes 5S and Lean Manufacturing (Continuous Improvement) efforts and events through various areas and departments across the company.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (4-year program) in a related field and 1-3 years of related experience; OR
• High School diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 5-7 years related experience or training.

• Detail oriented; well organized; ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
• Good math skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions.
• Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations, as well as occasional use of computers and office equipment.
• Must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.
• Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
