Position: Hisa Coordinator

We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a HISA (Horse Racing Integrity and Safety Authority) Coordinator. An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

• Lead and provide oversight of Oaklawn's racing integrity program to assure compliance with regulatory, policy and safety requirements impacting the racing program.
• Develop, revise as necessary and monitor implementation of Oaklawn's racing integrity plan, ensuring that it is conducted at the highest standards.
• Provide oversight and supervision of morning pre-race veterinary exams and Lasix administration
• Provide afternoon assistance to Association Veterinarian.
• Assist the Stewards and the Commission Veterinarian with out-of-competition and TCO2 testing.
• Assist the Director of Racing and Security Staff with regular inspections of jockeys and the jockeys' rooms, pony people, exercise riders, outriders, assistant starters, valets and others.
• Assist the Director of Racing and Stewards in the investigation of any incidents resulting in equine injuries.
• Maintains an attitude & philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal & external guests
• Punctual attendance required
• Ability to work required overtime.
• Experience in regulatory, compliance or enforcement environment
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
• Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain a calm, professional and friendly demeanor in all situations
• Ability to handle several tasks at the same time
• Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

• Must be able to read, write legibly, understand and speak English
• Must be able to work around horses
• Ability to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment
• Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays
• Ability to stand for periods of time and work in inclement weather when necessary
• High School Graduate or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
• Accredited stewards preferred
• Previous work with thoroughbred horses a must
• Previous racing experience
