Create memorable first impressions this winter at the Sonnenalp Hotel. We're seeking friendly and service-focused Full-Time and Part-Time Seasonal Food & Beverage Hosts to welcome guests to our restaurants throughout the 2026-2027 winter season. As the first point of contact for our dining venues, you'll help set the tone for an exceptional guest experience while working alongside an outstanding hospitality team in the heart of Vail.

Application Deadline: Hiring will occur on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted until October 1st or until the positions are filled.

Wage: $16.00/hr, plus tips

Winter Seasonal Dates: 11/04/2026 - 4/11/2027 - Can change based on business levels.

Primary Purpose of Position

The restaurant Host/Hostess is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. The Host accurately maintains the reservation book, quickly and courteously greets all guests at the door, and professionally seats guests while keeping in mind station rotation and progress of servers. They provide courteous and efficient service to all guests and promote teamwork among co-workers. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the hostess, making their job critical in the overall satisfaction of our guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Warmly and graciously greets all guests upon arrival.
• When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
• Manage the reservation book and wait list
• Call out name and number of party when tables become available.
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time, always maintaining a professional, courteous attitude when confronted with hostile, impatient or irate guests.
• Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
• Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
• Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
• Relay messages to servers and support staff as needed.
• Clean menus of food and stains.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager on duty.
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
• Complete all opening and closing side-work assigned
• Watch dining room to insure that it is clean and orderly at all times
• Adhere to Leading Hotel of the World (LHW) standards at all times
• Participate in related F&B training/seminar program such as LHW classes and wine training as needed

Education/Experience

• Minimum 14 years of age
• At least one year of hosting experience in a high volume, upscale restaurant preferred
• Prior experience with Open Table preferred

• Strong organizational skills required
• Maintain a professional appearance
• Ability to operate in a hospitable, cheerful manner during high stress situations required
• Must be a team player and demonstrate organizational skills.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and confidence.
• Excellent verbal and telephone skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our guests.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in other languages a plus.
• Be flexible and willing to assist as needed to ensure all restaurant standards are met

Essential Physical Requirements

• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Position primarily performed indoors assisting a variety of guests.
• Working conditions will vary with season; high traffic during peak season, medium traffic during off season.
• Should be prepared to work long hours and able to stand for an extended time.
• Ability to lift up to 20lbs
