Utility Steward - Jacob K. Javits Convention Center

The Steward performs a number of kitchen activities including pot washing, dish washing, general cleaning duties and storing food and non-food supplies.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Service

• Sets-up, operates and breakdowns dishwashing equipment.
• Sets-up and operates three compartment dish sink workstation.
• Distributes and properly stores all dishware, equipment and utensils.
• Processes and disposes of waste and recyclables.
• Remove compost and recycling bins.
• Cleans and sanitizes production equipment, work surfaces and kitchen station based on assigned tasks.
• Handles food (Family Meal) in a manner consistent with local health department guidelines and/or Levy standards.
• Cleans & Maintains drains in all designated areas.
• Scrapping plates at breakdown stations or kitchen areas.
• Drain oil from fryer unit as need, clean the fryer unit inside & outside & refill with clean oil.
• Clean & Maintains kitchen hood surfaces.
• Set-up & Empties trash in designated areas on the show-floor.

Controls

• Maintains a safe, clean and sanitary workstation.
• Employs good safety and sanitation practices in order to prevent hazards including but not limited to, slips, trips, falls and urns, and reports injuries, unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to management. Contacts Public Safety in the event of emergencies.
• Adheres to company guidelines, policies, and property rules.
• Thoroughly completes all responsibilities and assignments.

Team

• Displays a positive attitude.
• Assists others when necessary and/or requested.

Qualifications

• Walks and/or stands throughout entire shift.
• Lifts and transports food product, product, and other equipment for up to 50 lbs.
• Pushes and pulls carts, tables, equipment and product weighing up to 250 lbs.
• Reads, speaks, writes and comprehends English.
