Civil Project EngineerIMEG is seeking a Civil Project Engineer specializing in land development to join our team in Warrenton, VA. In this role, you will assist in leading the planning, design, permitting, and execution of a variety of civil site development projects while collaborating closely with project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary design teams.This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial concept through construction while developing client relationships and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical expertise in land development, permitting, and site design who is ready to play a key role in delivering impactful projects throughout Northern Virginia.What You'll DoLead civil engineering design efforts for commercial, residential, mixed-use, industrial, and institutional land development projects.Prepare and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, erosion and sediment control plans, and supporting calculations.Coordinate and manage permit applications with local municipalities and regulatory agencies.Collaborate with Senior Project Managers to support project scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.Serve as a technical lead on projects, coordinating with clients, consultants, and internal multidisciplinary teams.Utilize Civil 3D and other engineering software to perform surface modeling, watershed analysis, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design.Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve technical or permitting challenges.Support projects through bidding, construction administration, and closeout phases.Participate in client meetings, presentations, and agency coordination meetings.Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, client requirements, and IMEG quality standards.Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, design standards, and best practices.What We Offer100% employee ownership.Flexible schedules and support for work-life balance.Professional development and career advancement opportunities.Tuition reimbursement assistance.Opportunities for community involvement and leadership.Exposure to impactful projects and diverse clients.Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits starting on your first day.Generous paid time off (PTO).What You'll BringRequired Skills & Abilities• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to land development, site design, utilities, grading, and stormwater management.• Ability to lead project design efforts and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, agencies, and project teams.• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and consultants.• Ability to identify project risks and develop practical solutions.• Working knowledge of permitting and entitlement processes throughout Virginia.• Experience reviewing engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.• Ability to mentor and support the development of less experienced staff.• Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.• Ability to travel up to 10% for project and client needs.Education & Experience• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering required.• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.• Minimum 4 years required, 6+ years preferred, of civil engineering experience focused on land development projects.• Experience leading design efforts and coordinating permitting activities for site development projects.• Experience working within an engineering consulting environment preferred.Ready to Take the Next Step?Join a company where employee ownership, collaboration, and professional growth are part of the culture.
