About the Opportunity

Newport Search Group is partnering with a global provider of advanced semiconductor metrology solutions to identify a Field Service Engineer supporting customers in Austin Texas.

This is a hands-on customer-facing engineering opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment and working directly with customers in a high-performance environment.

The successful candidate will serve as a critical link between customers technical support applications engineering and product development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Install troubleshoot maintain and support advanced semiconductor metrology equipment at customer facilities.
• Perform equipment upgrades modifications and new system installations.
• Diagnose technical issues perform root-cause analysis and coordinate escalations with technical support and engineering teams.
• Provide responsive customer support under established warranty and service agreements.
• Train customer engineers and equipment operators on system operation and best practices.
• Prepare accurate service reports technical documentation and customer updates.
• Manage assigned spare-parts inventory and ensure equipment readiness.
• Collaborate with applications engineering sales and R&D teams during customer evaluations and product improvements.
• Follow semiconductor fab safety protocols customer policies and confidentiality requirements.
• Support customer operations outside standard working hours when required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience servicing semiconductor manufacturing equipment in a fab or customer-site environment.
• Strong electromechanical troubleshooting diagnostics and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with semiconductor equipment installation maintenance upgrades and field service procedures.
• Ability to work independently and resolve technical challenges with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer communication escalation management and technical reporting capabilities.
• Experience collaborating with engineering applications and technical support teams.
• Effective time management and ownership of assigned equipment and customer relationships.

Highly Desirable Experience

• Semiconductor metrology inspection optical measurement or process-control equipment.
• Experience supporting equipment from leading semiconductor capital equipment manufacturers.
• Experience working in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
• Familiarity with equipment qualification preventive maintenance and root-cause investigations.
