Unit Information

• Unit Name: CSSU
• Building: Main Campus
• Number of Beds: 15 beds
• Patient Ratios: 4:1
• Unit Staffing Description: 1-2 LNA support available
• Type of Equipment: GE Monitors, Hamilton Bipap and Hiflo, Baxter IV Pumps, Hemospheres
• Documentation System: Meditech Expanse

Scheduling Requirements

• 12 shifts per month (3 shifts per week)
• 4 weekend shifts per month
• Department leadership manages the schedule and considers requested time off (RTO)

Floating Policy

Staff will float on a rotation basis, with travelers floating first.

Patient Experience Requirements

• MyCare boards must be updated during each shift at bedside shift report.
• Bedside shift report is required at each change of shift.

Hospital Certifications

• Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Level 2 Trauma Center

Requested Skill Set

• Must Have:
  
  
  • Strong telemetry skills
  • Experience with titrating vasoactive medications such as levophed, phenylephrine, dopamine, and dobutamine
  • Chest tube experience
• Preferred Skills:
  
  
  • Arterial Lines
  • Flo-Tracs

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Temporary Pacing
• Pre-op preparation for cardiovascular surgery
• Chest tube removal
• Arterial line removal

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS

Dress Code

Scrubs (color does not matter)

Additional Information

This unit supports specialized care in cardiovascular and vascular surgery, equipped with the latest technology and a knowledgeable staff. The Mobility team provides additional support, and all patients are monitored via a central monitoring station.
