Automotive Technician

Job Description UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. The role involves maintaining a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy‑duty on‑road tractors and trailers from various manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline and alternative technology power plants such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid and electric in some locations. The technician will be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems and engine control. Availability for 2nd or 3rd shifts, including Monday‑Friday, Sunday‑Thursday, and Tuesday‑Saturday schedules, is required. Responsibilities and Duties Meet DOT requirements related to the assigned job tasks. Perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, standing, walking, and frequent turning or pivoting. Operate standard and manual transmissions and power or pneumatic tools. Maintain Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certification requirements. Use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers for vehicle inspections and maintenance. Wear personal protective equipment as required and work in environments with variable temperatures, humidity, cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, and noise. Communicate effectively through sight, hearing, or other means to perform assigned tasks and maintain safety conditions. Maintain dependable attendance, report to work on time, and perform scheduled duties consistently. Work full‑time shifts of 8–10 hours per day, 4–5 days per 7‑day week, and be available for overtime as needed. Qualifications Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident, or authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer. Must possess a NY Heavy Vehicle Inspector license; Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred. Current documented automotive mechanical experience. Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers. Possess a full complement of personal hand tools. Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certification required. Available to work varying shifts, additional hours, and/or overtime based on service needs. Pay and Benefits Starting pay rate: $35.61 per hour.
