Therapy Supervisor - Outpatient - Ochsner Neuroscience Institute

Job Overview This position supervises the day‑to‑day management of a clinical department, providing clinical and technical support to staff. The incumbent coordinates workflow, staffing patterns, program development, inventory control, and distribution within the department, and assumes responsibility for monitoring and reporting statistical guidelines and metrics as established by federal regulations, credentialing bodies, payer sources, and leadership. Responsibilities Serve as a preceptor or mentor for new staff, validating required skills through orientation, assessment, evaluation, and treatment processes. Delegate tasks to staff based on role, competency, and scope of practice, in accordance with state practice acts and compliance standards. Maintain departmental productivity standards, monitoring individual staff levels and addressing concerns with leadership. Provide training, coaching and feedback to ensure performance standards are met and staff have opportunities for professional growth. Perform age‑and‑diagnosis‑appropriate evaluations and/or treatment specific to the licensed discipline. Maintain patient records in accordance with documentation standards, policies and procedures. Assist in evaluating departmental learning needs to adjust to changing research, practice trends, and patient populations. Adapt communication style and behavior to meet the specific needs of each patient population, ensuring respect for privacy and informed consent. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field. Work Experience: 1 year of clinical experience in the specialty area (preferred 3 years). Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; Licensed physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, occupational therapist assistant, or speech‑language pathologist current in the state of practice. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency using computers, software, and web‑based applications; effective verbal and written communication; strong leadership; ability to travel throughout and between facilities. Physical and Environmental Demands The position requires movement of objects exceeding 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly, placing it beyond heavy work. Duties routinely involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential hazardous medications or waste. An occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases is inherent.
