Learn more at Position Overview As an entry-level Engineering Technician / Designer for the Electrical Distribution team at TechServ, you will begin with 2-3 weeks of hands-on job training. After completing training, you will work under the general supervision of Project Coordinators to create high-quality designs for newbuilds, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including: electrical distribution design, transmission, and substation design. You will work as part of a team to support various project phases, including: planning, site evaluation, design analysis, report preparation, construction documentation, and more. Over time, you will work with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. Travel is required for this position (approximately 20% of the time). This position serves as an entry point for additional levels of growth throughout the company (e.g., Engineering Technician II, II, IV). The ideal candidate for this role has a strong interest in working with technology and working in a team setting in an open office plan. Key Roles and Responsibilities Use proprietary drafting software (CAD) for client projects, including newbuilds, alterations, redevelopments, etc. and work with Engineers to implement design changes into the system Execute a variety of electrical design assignments using the client’s distribution standard drawings and comply with NES procedures Execute changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements Review design drawings for quality assurance (to ensure projects are within scope, budget, and schedule) Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines Work with leaders and team members to facilitate/support internal change efforts to increase organizational effectiveness Assist with the set-up of projects in applicable project management systems and ensure accurate data entry Travel to regional job sites per client specifications (20%) This description is a general statement of required essential functions performed on a regular and continuous basis.
