Food Service Worker

The food service worker supports daily food production operations in a school kitchen that serves students. The position is responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling food items, serving students meals, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, energetic, and able to work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily production goals. This part-time position follows the Woodridge SD 68 school calendar and starts in August. Monday-Friday 8am-1pm. No nights, weekends, or holidays. Essential duties and responsibilities include preparing fruits, vegetables, and other menu items according to standardized recipes and meal schedules, washing, cutting, portioning, cooking, and packaging food products for distribution, assisting with meal assembly and service to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met, labeling, dating, and storing food products following food safety guidelines, operating kitchen equipment including ovens, steam tables, and knives, maintaining clean and organized workstations throughout the shift, following HAACP procedures and documenting food temperatures as required, assisting with receiving deliveries and stocking inventory using FIFO procedures, supporting cooks with food preparation and other duties as assigned, working efficiently to meet production deadlines, and adhering to all company, local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications: Previous food service, restaurant, cafeteria experience preferred but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Reliable attendance and punctuality required. Serve Safe Certified or the ability to obtain certification upon hire. Must pass federal background check. Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs. Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements. Ability to work in loud, fast paced kitchen environment.
