About the Role
The Company is seeking a Dean for its School of Engineering and Cyber Systems. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a strong academic background, including an earned doctoral degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, and a distinguished record of achievement in teaching, research, and service. The Dean will be responsible for providing academic leadership, strategic planning, resource management, faculty development, and ensuring the School meets accreditation standards. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of the School, driving innovation in engineering and cyber education, and aligning academic programs with the mission needs of the Coast Guard and the nation. Candidates for the Dean position at the company should have a proven track record of effective leadership in a higher education setting, a commitment to public service, and a deep understanding of the unique educational environment at a military college. The role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to manage budgets and personnel effectively, and a history of successful stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will be adept at fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, supporting faculty professional growth, and leading organizational change. Experience with ABET accreditation processes and a forward-leaning approach to adapting curriculum and research to emerging technologies are essential. The Dean will also be instrumental in recruiting and retaining an engineering and cyber workforce for the Coast Guard, and must demonstrate a strong alignment with the core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty.
