Police Officer

Hiring Department UMSL Police Job Description Enforces university regulations and city and state laws as they apply to university property and designated areas. Performs routine tasks as assigned using existing procedures, practices, and techniques. Patrols, inspects, supervises, responds to institutional safety and/or police operations. Performs standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement, efficiency, and resourcing. Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems or correct routine issues. Conducts preliminary investigations, collecting and preserving evidence. Has limited impact on own work team. Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet established deadlines. Exchanges straightforward information. Develops working relationships with various teams and parties. Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity to the audience and situation. Applicants Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The University will not sponsor employment visas. Shift 40 hours, rotating shifts. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. A valid Missouri operator's license (for positions at UMKC only; a valid Kansas operator's license is acceptable). Must obtain and maintain Missouri POST certification in accordance with current state requirements. Certification may be required prior to appointment and is mandatory once employed. Preferred Qualifications 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university, or 2 years of federal active duty military service with an honorable discharge, or 2 years of experience as a full-time POST-certified peace officer.
