Tax Accountant - Senior Tax accountant

You don’t need international tax experience to work with international clients.

If you’ve spent the last 2 to 3 years building your tax and accounting experience, this could be a chance to put it to use while learning something new.

I’m working with the Founder of a growing firm in downtown Chicago. He’s looking for someone with a good grounding in general tax who wants to work closely with clients and develop their accounting skills too.

The international side? He can teach you that.

The firm helps international businesses establish and grow their US operations, with many clients coming from France. They include businesses across tech, AI and biotech, so you’ll get to know clients who are building something themselves.

You’ll get involved in tax preparation and accounting work, helping clients with their US requirements and the questions that come up along the way.

As you learn, you’ll gain exposure to the tax requirements for foreign owned US businesses, including corporate returns, international reporting and multi state compliance. You don’t need to arrive knowing all the forms.

You’ll work directly with the Founder, with the opportunity to ask questions, understand the thinking behind the work and see how your part fits into the client’s wider business.

You’ll also have a voice in how things are done. As the firm grows, there’s room to take on more responsibility and eventually help support junior colleagues.

For now, the focus is on building your technical knowledge, confidence and client relationships.

You could be a good fit if you have:

• Around 2 to 3 years of tax experience within a CPA firm, ideally with some accounting experience too
• A generalist background and an interest in developing both sides
• The confidence to speak with clients and ask questions when you need support
• A willingness to stay hands on and get involved across a small team

The practical details:

• Downtown Chicago
• Ideally 2 to 3 days per week in the office
• Generous PTO offering
• US work authorization required now and in the future without sponsorship
